Please do not forget to visit the site 🤍 When the cream-colored fin was first seen breaking the ocean waves in 2012, the research scientist could not credit it. Could that really be an adult white killer whale, contrasting vividly with the blue water off the coast of Russia? No-one had ever spotted a mature specimen with that idiosyncratic coloring before. It was a wonderful moment to witness, but three years on from the sighting and the eager academic had not set eyes on the fantastical creature since. #Killer_Whale #albino_killer_whale #orcas #white_killer_whale

Follow 🤍SlateViral, Watch more: SlateV.com, Facebook.com/SlateVideo What appears to be an adult albino orca has been sighted off the eastern coast of Russiaperhaps the first sighting ever of its kind in the wild. Albino orcas are believed to have weak immune systems, which makes the sighting of what appears to be a 16-year-old adult so unique. The killer whale, nicknamed "Iceberg," has been swimming with a family hunting pod in Russia's largest marine life preserve, which has been threatened by oil speculation.
Wegen seiner Farbe nannte man ihn Iceberg. - #MINDFUN #SHORTREPORT

On 23rd April 2012, in the North Pacific, east of the Kamchatka Peninsula near the Commander Islands, the first-ever adult all-white, probably albino, orca bull has been observed by scientists from the universities in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The scientists of this international science project, studying acoustic and social complexity in whale and dolphin populations in the region, called this unique orca "Iceberg" after they saw his towering 2-meter white dorsal fin breaking the surface. We made this video to help spread the research by the Far East Russia Orca Project (FEROP).

Have you ever wondered who would win in a battle between a great white shark and an orca? Orcas, also known as killer whales or blackfish, can be found roaming every ocean in the world. They are beautiful animals with great strength, complex social structures, and extreme intelligence. Though they’ve captured the interest and hearts of many, do they have what it takes to be crowned the dominant creature of the sea? In this video we will talk about just that! We will also go over who would win in a battle between a blue whale and an orca. Killer whales are very powerful and impressive animals and I’m excited to talk about why! Thanks for watching! In August-September we surveyed the southeastern coast of Kamchatka and Northern Kuril Islands as part of a humpback whale project funded by Russian Geographical Society. In the Fourth Kuril Strait, between Onekotan and Paramushir islands, we met a large aggregation of orcas, but soon after we started photographing them for photo-IDs, the fog thickened. Soon, we couldn’t see anything further than hundred meters, so we stopped to listen for the sounds. Suddenly a group of orcas approached us, and right next to the boat, a white orca surfaced. It was not the famous Iceberg, but a small white orca, likely a juvenile. We soon lost the whale in the fog, but the image was fixed in our mind and in this short piece of video. We hope to meet more white orcas next year.

A group of scientists working in the North Pacific have documented what they believe to be the first-ever sighting of an all white adult orca whale in Russia. The scientists have nick named the amazing mammal 'Iceberg'. Iceberg is only the third white orca whale found in the wild since 1970. But iceberg is the first fully-grown male orca found living in the wild. The whale is believed to be 15-16 years old, and it is speculated that Iceberg is an albino, although further research must be conducted. The whale was first spotted in 2010 but only now has it been seen again. The team of researchers hope to see the white whale again, so that further information may be provided about Iceberg, the first fully grown adult White orca spotted in the wild.
